Common Causes Of Allergy
Allergy Skin Testing
Provides immediate answers utilizing
a gentle technique usually not requiring needles or injections. Useful for respiratory, food and insect allergy.
Allergy Blood Testing (RAST)
In some cases such as food allergy
or eczema, RAST may be preferable to skin testing. Requires three to ten days for results.
Pulmonary Function Testing
Spirometry provides accurate assessment of
lung status in patients with asthma or chronic cough and is useful in measuring response to medications.
Tympanometry and Audiometry
Evaluates the effect of allergy on persistent ear fluid and possible hearing loss.
Sinus CT Scan
Sinus and chest x-rays or scans may be
ordered at a participating radiology office to assess underlying infections.
Allergen Immunotherapy (Allergy Shots)
For difficult or persistent allergy problems,
we may prescribe and administer a program of allergy shots formulated specifically for each individual patient.
In-Office Food Challenges
Carefully supervised challenges may demonstrate that selected patients outgrow food allergy and may safely eat at home.
Influenza Vaccine Allergy Testing
Patients who have egg allergy may safely receive Influenza vaccine after simple puncture skin testing with the vaccine.
